What do chemical engineers do?
Chemical engineers integrate chemistry, biology, and other natural sciences with engineering to efficiently and safely operate processing plants and create products for our modern world. They help give us fuels, food, synthetic materials, medicines, biotechnology products, electronic materials, paper, and many other consumer products. They also have important roles in cleaning up the environment and in pollution prevention.

Department got Award from Thailand Toray Science Foundation

The department of Chemical Engineering, Chulalongkorn University has received the 15th Science and Technology award from the Thailand Toray Science Foundation. The 15th Awards Presentation Ceremony of TTSF will take place on February 9th, 2009 at the Nai Lert Park Hotel, Bangkok.

Minister of Science and Technology Visits Catalysis Research Center

10 June 2008, Mr.Wutipong Chaisang, Minister of Science and Technology and party visited the Center of Excellence on Catalysis and Catalytic Reaction Engineering and the collaboration projects between Chulalongkorn University and Industries, which are Mektec Manufaxturing Corporation (Thailand) Ltd and PPT Chemical Public Company Ltd.

Special Seminar “Chemical Management System and ChemTrack: the online database
system”

On July 15, 2008, Assoc. Prof. Lursuang, the Director of the Center of Excellence for Environmental and Hazardous Waste Management was invited to give a talk on the Chemical Management System and “ChemTrack”, the online database
system used as the University chemical management tool. ChemTrack allows laboratories to keep chemical inventories in the same systematic format throughout Chulalongkorn University. Not only does this facilitate users to assess
the risk associated with the usages of chemicals, but it does also help control the amount of hazardous chemicals and promote the exchange of such chemicals within Chulalongkorn premises.
